Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh will be known as Narmadapuram. Hoshangabad will be renamed on Narmadapuram as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh announced a day before. There is total 52 district as per now (22 February, 2021). Hoshangabad is one of those districts of Madhya Pradesh. It is a division also out of 10 divisions in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an announcement during Narmada Jayanti Festival holding in Hoshangabad district on passed Friday this week. There was huge audience while CM was delivering speech, asking for the name changing people presented there nod for yes to rename Hoshangabad as Narmadapuram.
By the way Hoshangabad division comprising three districts Hoshangabad, Betul and Harda, the division was already known as Narmadapuram.
Why Hoshangabad: A brief History - It is back history when Raja Bhoj was ruler of Malwa, Hoshangshah was king of Mandu. Once Raja Bhoj made a huge lake, today known as Bada Talab, lower lake was broker by Hoshangshah, because his son was shrunk into the lake. Later, Bhopal modern city put off on those islands of the lake. History courted and nearby district was known as Hoshangabad. Now some Swadeshi thinking people demanded that the name of Hoshangabad should be changed because he was lootera and thus the name of Hoshangabad city is going to be renamed.
Facts on Hoshangabad - Most wheat is produced in Hoshangabad. Panchmari, the highest peak ( dhupgarh 1350 m) is in Hoshangabad district. It is situated on Satpura range. The biggest dam of MP is in Hoshangabad, name Tawa dam. Panchmari is summer capital of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh biggest railway junction Itarsi Junction is also in Hoshangabad district. The division of Hoshangabad is known as Narmadapuram. Narma river also passes through Hoshangabad district and this is the only river in Madhya Pradesh that is recognized as alive river.
