Parents Becoming Biggest Enemies of Their Children : Illiteracy or Intentionally?

After a long watch and dive into the society I have came to a point to discuss a crucial matter. It's really hard for me to give any conclusion on what's happening nowadays. I have been working as a social worker as a tutor for a long time. I have served for free of cost, and also tried to set boundaries to make realization of importance of education by deciding a half or more than half tuition fees for school students, I'm surprised to see the differences.

In my journey I have been a seen various societies and various kinds of students and their behavior. In big city like in Bhopal, I found most of the students humble, sincere, well mannered, while in rural area where I'm serving nowadays, am witnessing most of the students and their background ponderable. In an answer on my Quora post I had mentioned about the toxic mentality and threat for me to leave the social work as a tutor in an NGO or my free educational services. I had to quit my work because some people were indulged into wrong activities.

Otherside I've again started giving tuitions with a vision, in a area where most of the students either go to school or have registered their name in schools but they don't have manners, they don't have basic understanding of primary education, most of middle students are unable to write in either Hindi or English, their basic concept of mathematical thinking is critical. This is all because of their toxic environment where most of the students / children see the drunk and abusive people. In the area where I have nowadays started work is close to town and is better in terms of social environment than previous one. Wondering thing for me is that their (students') parents don't restrict them using bad words, abusive language or indulging in drugging.

In my case, whom I'm teaching nowadays are associated with blue color jobs, their parents have not get proper education themselves, or they are associated with wrong environment. But some belong to good environment, no parents would like their children be uneducated and illiterate, but laughable thing is most of people don't know the true value of education. I have seen a growing child becoming from mannered to unmannered and totally chasing wrong ethics and company.

In my parents talk, I have discussed with some parents to give an exposure on the importance of education but some deny, some become in silent mode, some are ready or some are in doubt. I have taught children of high strata families too, but in this summer time I am focusing to improve the level of students of those background who have approached to wrong activities. Ultimately those students/children get trapped in street vendor jobs, or some labor jobs, need makes them fun of society and most people laugh at them. A growing child generally has no IQ to distinguish between the right and wrong, unfortunately their parents feel proud of getting damaged their children moral values and ethics, illiteracy becomes pride for some parents, this makes them the real enemy of their children.

I don't know the consequences, but in this journey I'm finding myself alone here, financially I'm not that much strong to cover everything easily, but some part of my earning is still going for betterment of unprivileged students. Person ruins a family, a family ruins a home, a home ruins a colony, a colony ruins a block of city, a city ruins many passengers. This is exactly what going on right now. Children are future youths who are in intoxication of mobile phones, reels, show offs, drugs, abusive environment. Better if someone makes himself away from this culture, but someone should come forward to amend the things properly.

Right to Education is the duty of every citizen : Return to the Society

Constitution of India gives us rights, 6 basic rights. State governments also ensure maintaining the rights of citizens. It is really hard to achieve an ideal utopian country but we can change our society in progressive and happy state. In this article we will discuss about some issues prevailing in rural parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh.

Jahan Welfare Society, Deosar : Free Education for All

I’ve been associated an NGO Jahan Welfare Society, Deosar, Singrauli that is working for access for basic education for all. I’ve been imparting education to needy ones but I came across many issues and problems in society after being a volunteer of Jahan Welfare Society, Deosar. The root aim of Jahan Welfare Society, Deosar is to educate the society and make them efficient enough to live a self-esteemed life.

The Jahan Welfare Society, Deosar is situated in front of ice-cream factory, Dand, Jiyawan Road, Deosar, Singrauli (MP). Deosar is a town/tehsil in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh (India). The NGO was started by Dr. A.V. Ansari sir and Abid Hussain sir with a vision to educate the society. After joining the institute as a volunteer teacher I have known a lot about the locality and people mindset of nearby Deosar. The education level in Deosar is good but the inequality of education is high. Most of the educated families are rich in Deosar, but there is almost nobody to raise voice against the inequality of richness or educational matters.

When I was posted in Deosar, Singrauli 4 years back in 2019, I had to face some caste discrimination, poverty discrimination, humiliation on different grounds. I was a small YouTuber and had joined the MP Prosecution (Police) Department as a clerk, thus had a fighting spirit for right, I spoke out for the injustice going on there in Market, I started exposing and fighting against the small level corruption, misbehaving, selling products on more than MRP etc, but I found myself alone in all this, so I decided to stop choosing this path to make a change in society. I was previously active imparting education in free of cost during my college days, so I found a way to help the society understanding their rights and helping them getting out of illiteracy & poverty.

Not all the persons who are not aware of the essence of education are poor, many are misled because of intoxication. Most of the children’s parents take intoxicants, commonly wine and Ganja, thus the environment of society already turned bad. Some out of them are understanding the value of education but the bad environment affected the behaviour of children. Most of the children have been victim of poor education provided by government schools, even some high school students are not capable of solving easy addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Most of the students are not even able to read easy Hindi and English books. Due to their poor financial condition they are not able to send their children to any private good school, or can manage children’s tuition fees, government schools are ignoring the importance of imparting quality education to children.

As an individual it is always hard me to manage all the things, but I have good knowledge of basic academic education of many subjects (Hindi, English, Science, Mathematics) of MP Board and NCERT. I have also been a former computer trainer, so I am only imparting my knowledge to unprivileged students. Financially I try to bring some stuffs like Chalk, Pen, Paper, Marker, Books etc for some needy students as my income is comparatively less, I try to put about 10-20% of my income for social work. I’m seeing the change as some college students as well as some people have also started contributing for this good work.

I have seen a cycle of poverty, illiteracy, poor living standard as a cycle. One who has money but indulged in taking drugs, he doesn’t focus in attaining education, thus he destroys his entire family. Most of the students with poor background don’t have much scope after getting average education, they either remain unemployed and depressed or start consuming drugs. I’ve been seeing a generation of youth destroying their lives due to poor education, indulging in drugs, engaging in crimes or last option becoming a path vendor. Most of the students, whom I am teaching, are from such families who are facing any of above problems, poverty, illiteracy, intoxication, etc.

Dr. A.V. Ansari sir and Abid Hussain sir tried their best to make a change in society, as a volunteer I sometimes become emotional listening the sad stories of students. Not all the students are poor, but most of facing either poverty, illiteracy or intoxication, getting indulged in taking drugs. Their parents don’t want their children also suffer like they, but due to the environment it is really hard them to convince for the importance of education. Some students, both boys and girls, have left studies at their early age due to poverty, or unawareness towards the value of education. It is true that they are the biggest enemy if they don’t want their children to get education. Now, we have started reaching to parents as well as and started noticing such families who are unable to educate their children.

To strengthen the NGO (Jahan Welfare Society) we have started requesting the capable families to help the society financially by their own will so that no child/student is left behind getting good education. Very soon we are planning to provide digital literacy to unprivileged students, also we are desiring from every citizen to make a small contribution for society. Only donating money in name of human help is not sufficient, but becoming a volunteer to impart education and feeding finance for that purpose if possible, is the best reward any human kind give to the society.

Intoxication is the biggest enemy of any family. One can fight against poverty by uplifting someone, but intoxicants destroy everything.
