TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) is compulsory for Class Ist to Class VIIIth for appointment as teacher in government schools. This is conducted by both central and state governments. Some states have their own conduct of TET like Uttar Pradesh (UPTET), Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (RTET), The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET), Punjab (PSTET), Maharashtra TET (MAHATET). Formerly CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) was valid for 7 years, as per recent notification CTET is valid for LIFETIME now.

CTET was introduced by the Indian government in 2011 to improve standards in teaching. It is mandatory in schools like NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti) & KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti) organizations and other central institutions. CTET is usually conducted for teaching aspirants for class 1st to 8th.
Eligibility for CTET - All D.El.Ed./B.Ed./B.El.Ed. holders are eligible to sit in CTET examination.
Age limit - Minimum age limit is 18 years and officially there is no maximum age limit.
Fees Structure - For General/OBC - 1000/- INR for Paper-I, and 1200/- for additional Paper-II. For Sc/St and reserved categories 500/- for Paper-I and and 600/- for additional Paper-II.
Passing Mark - 60% is required for passing in CTET.
Validity of CTET Score card - Onward 2021, it is valid for LIFETIME.
CBSE maintains TET database and guides government bodies on conducting the test. CTET 2021 details are mentioned below:
Start Date of Registration/Application Form - 20/09/2021
Last Date of Registration/Application Form - 19/10/2021
Fact - If paper-II is optional, if anyone passes Paper-I then he will be eligible as a teacher for class 1st to 5th, and if anyone passes both Paper-I and Paper-II as he has already chosen for Paper-II, he will be eligible for class 1st to 8th as teacher.
