SUPREME COURT OF INDIA ASKS FOR INCLUSIVE COVID-19 POLICY TO MODI GOVERNMENT

The Supreme Court of India asked drastic questions to the central Modi government on Monday. Reason behind this was that states were inviting global tenders for buying vaccines, but having different prices. The Apex Court of India asked the Modi government "Is this policy of the central government that states compete with one another?". Court also added, if the central government says of buying vaccines in less price then what is the reason behind those states buying vaccines for different prices? The bench of justice DY Chandrachud, S Ravindra Bhatt and L Nageshwar Rao took these situation serious and asked the central government about the mismanagement of coronavirus crisis.

Tushar Mehta, the solicitor general of India, represented the view of the Government of India at court. Summary of the session was the central (Modi) government must establish one price for all countrywide. The court asked if the government is providing free vaccination for 45+ aged citizens, then what the problem is with 18-44 age group citizens. States of India must be ruled by one central policy and the Indian government should play a big role like a nodal agency.

Tushar Mehta, in response, said if the government orders for verifying the prices of vaccines under one nation, one price policy, the vaccination program may be affected. The honorable court said that they are not trying to change the policy but they are concerned about what happening within the nation. The bench of three justices also concerned for village children and shown concern against the third wave of the COVID-19. The SC also shown an interest for India to work under an integrated covid-19 policy under the central government.
