Reasons behind repealing of the existing 3 Farm Laws

On addressing to the nation, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced to repeal the existing three farm laws that was burning issue for more than two years. Farmers mainly from northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh were protesting demanding for removal of the existing 3 agricultural laws brought by the ruling Modi government. These three laws are respectively The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

After these farm laws came into force, farmers from country wide started protesting against the ruling government. The central government also offered conversation on the points of the rules inside these farm laws, but the farmers couldn't be satisfied over the issues. The confrontation rose up, and many have lost their lives for now. The government also imposed allegations on farmers protests referring being funded by non-peaceful individuals. Rakesh Tikait a farmer leader mainly led this protest and he organized farmers protests in different states in different occasions. Farmers influenced the elections of whether it was Bihar or West Bengal, Rakesh Tikait played vital role in forming governments in various states and even in various elections.

While addressing to the farmers Modiji stated that he wished to make better lifestyle of farmers and these farm laws were really for wellness for farmers. But it was clear that a part of farmers were not satisfied by these laws, and thinking about their protest and intensity he announced to repeal these three existing farm laws before this winter session.

There are many things to talk, but as per my analysis the BJP government has decided to repeal these farm laws before of Uttar Pradesh election 2022. Most of the participants of farmers protest are belonging from Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh has witnessed the voting calculations in various level elections countrywide after the introduction of these three farms laws. Government has decided to repeal these farm laws to make happy the farmers and by the influence of this decision they could vote to the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh in next elections.

Will the protest be ended for now? - After the statement by the Modi government, when a question was asked to farmers leader Rakesh Tikait whether the protest will be ended for now, he replied that the protest cannot be ended before the winter parliament session declaring an order of repealing of these three farm laws. By the way, after the statement of Modiji for repealing the three existing farm laws, farmers and farmer leaders are propagating it as their win.
